Ian Woolford has worked in a variety of roles at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand over the last 30 years. Ian started his career in the Economics Department, and has been a Manager in the Financial Markets, Financial Stability, and Prudential departments. He was also New Zealand’s representative on the IMF Executive Board (1999-2001).
As Director of Money and Cash, he is responsible for all currency operational functions (banknote and coin procurement and related activities), as well broader money related policy issues such as the redesign of the cash system, Central Bank Digital Currency, and policy issues relating to private innovation in money.
